Kansas-Nebraska Act
The Kansas-Nebraska act was one of the biggest reasons the Civil War started. It was unfair to the Northerners and made them very upset with the South.
This picture shows the territory of Kansas and Nebraska. The Kansas-Nebraska act was about determining whether or not these two states would be anti-slavery pro-slavery. It caused a lot of conflict between the North and the South because it laid North of the 36-30 parallel which meant it should belong to the North as anti-slavery states, but Stephen Douglas, the sponsor of the act, made it to where it would be up to popular sovereignty which violated the Missouri Compromise which mean that it must be repealed. This outraged the North causing very heated problems with the North.
